Turnip and Onion Mélange Recipe

French accompaniment to serve with roast meals

Baby white turnips and onions cooked lightly with a traditional French recipe. Simple vegetable side-dish.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb white baby turnips
1 lb small boiling onions
2 tbsp olive oil
1/8 tsp white pepper
3/4 tsp salt

Recipe Instructions

Prepare and cook the vegetables
Peel the turnips. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the onions. Sauté for around 8 minutes until they start to go light brown. Add the turnips, salt and pepper, stir well and reduce the heat to low. Cover with a lid and cook for 25 minutes. Turnips should be tender.
