Bacon Turnip Mash Recipe

A tasty side-dish.
Yield: 4    Preparation Time: 10 mins    Cooking Time: 30 mins
Turnips simply cooked and mixed with garlic and bacon. A tasty side-dish.

Ingredients

2 1/4 lb (1 Kg) turnips
8 oz (225 g) bacon
1 tbsp crushed garlic
2 tbsp butter
salt
freshly milled black pepper

Recipe Instructions

Prepare the turnips
Peel and chop the turnip into cubes. Boil in salted water for around 30 minutes until tender.  Drain and mash turnip well.

Cook bacon
In a frying pan, fry the bacon until crispy.

Finish turnip
Add the bacon, the bacon juices, butter and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.

Serves 4 people
Served hot as a side-dish
